So Sad such a hard trip to town today

Little did I think that my Trip to Vet this morning would be such a sad one

We live in a small town of less then 1,400 people. We actually live outside of town at the lake area and I do not know many folks around here. But this town is packed with small town charm.

A resident of the Kingston Oklahoma made his sad return home as a Fallen Soldier yesterday and he is now in the next town over 7 more miles down the road. Going through Kingston which is where he is from, the flags line the streets and ribbons are hanging on business doors,  even on that short country drive to the next town the flags were out on the roadway.

His Funeral will be held tomorrow. It brought tears to my eyes as I made my drive.

Then when I left the vet I was in tears were even more, I did not know that I would return home without Miss Jackzie. I am happy and thrilled that I gave her to one of the vet techs, so I know she will have a good home and be well taken care of. Little Rango sure is sticking close to mama Shelby, I believe she will miss her little sister.

I will close with this, Remember to think about those that put their lives at risk for us everyday. Remember to pray for those soldiers and their families.

  3. It is sad and too many people drive by without thinking what he did for us. Hard to let the puppy go, but sounds like she has a wonderful home.

  4. Miss Jackzie will have a good home, I can tell, and yes, I pray for our soldiers, especially the ones in dangerous countries, for their safe return home. Can you imagine how brave they are?

  5. It is so sad to see these boys and girls coming home. We have a small town in England called Wootten Basset whos residents quite spontaneously have lined the streets as the coffins pass by. It has become a familiar sight on our tv screens and never fails to bring tears to my eyes for those brave soldiers and their families.

  10. I'm glad to hear that your town honored this great hero! It really does bring home that our service men and women are still putting their lives on the line. My heart goes out to the family who gave so much.

Glad to hear the little one found a good home.

  11. Thank you, Brenda, for sharing both sad stories with us, this was indeed a terribly rough day for you. No one really realizes what the soldiers and their families go through, such tremendous sacrifice and terrible fear and worry every day that they are away. Miss Jackzie will in time adjust and Miss Shelby has Rango and you to help her adjust.

  12. I'm so glad that his hometown honored him this way. It is sad, and I imagine happens more than we know, so we should remember to keep our troops in our prayers.
Aww, Miss Jackzie will be taken good care of with a vet tech. My daughter is a vet tech and she's bringing us another cat to save it from being euthanized. Animal lovers they are:-)

  14. My prayers for this family and community. In small towns like ours, it affects everyone. I do pray for our military. We have numerous family members in the service and it is very worrisome for all.
Hey-what a perfect home for Jackzie! You will be able to get updates! Maybe even see her!
Rango will adjust. Now we'll see more pics of mother and daughter! right?????

  15. So, so, sad - and so noble at the same time. Makes my heart ache - and I somehow feel guilty enjoying the freedom and life we have when it comes at such great sacrifice and cost. Keeping Lt. Cunningham's family and others who serve and their families in my prayers. And sad about Jackzie - your hurt must near be broken apart at this point - but truly, a blessing that she has found a caring home. We know you wouldn't let her go home with just anyone!! 16. This was sad. We owe our military men and women so much for they pay such a high price for all of our freedom.
Also made me sad to hear about the pup. I know it hurts to see them go but sounds like you find them good homes. And we can't keep 'em all.
    Hope you're feeling better!

  18. Brenda, My cousin was also one that gave his life for our country. I will never forget leaving the church for the cemetary, and our small town (4500) had people lined up and down the streets holding flags. The image that is forever burned in my mind is that of a little boy..he had on his boy scout shirt...holding a little flag...the look on his face. Thank you for remembering!
