Just some crickets still chirping over there...LOL! But, I don't have a huge following. And perhaps those who do follow have signed up elsewhere...or do not want to PIF? Honestly, I am not worried about recieving anything....I just thought it was a kind, selfless act of kindness....and thought it was a great idea. Evidentally....there are others who maybe don't have the time or inclination to keep it going...or as I stated before...have gone elsewhere to do so? Good luck to all who have participated in trying to do something good!
Kat♥katscountryprimshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14567919950458227903noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-65422955356686266.post-80918471054187216082011-03-14T04:30:24.660-05:002011-03-14T04:30:24.660-05:00I participated in one of these a couple of years a...I participated in one of these a couple of years ago via blogging...how we did it was, the first 3 to 5 (your choice) people who commented on your pay it forward post received the gifts and they committed to paying it forward as well. As you have unfortunately discovered, some of the people who have signed up are only doing it for personal gain; they see it as a way to get something for themselves rather than participating in the true spirit of the offer. You are one of the most generous and caring people that I have had the good fortune to meet here in blogland and for anyone to imply that you are doing this in order to promote your blog or yourself is ridiculous. I am so sorry that you have had this experience and I truly hope that you find two people who will TRULY pay forward your gifts without any expectation of reward or recognition. Take care my friend, DebDebhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08202241672864661004noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-65422955356686266.post-59114698038872672762011-03-13T14:26:47.953-05:002011-03-13T14:26:47.953-05:00Hi Brenda,
I too hope you find your two people to...Hi Brenda,

I too hope you find your two people to send your PIF "gift from your heart!"

Some 6-1/2 years ago, there were many people who did selfless acts of kindness for many of us who were flooded in the little town where my shop is housed. We were flooded by Hurricane Ivan. It was a very tough set of circumstances to endure. I didn't think I would ever get through it, let alone ever get over it! There were so many kindhearted individuals who came to our rescue every way they could, never asking for anything in return! I vowed that I would never pass a "red bucket" (Salvation Army) ever again without stopping to drop whatever money I could afford to help others who may either be going through devastation or others who happen to be less fortunate than myself!

My point, you never know when you may be the person who needs someone else's selfless act of kindness. No one person is ever saved from the possibility of needing help at some point in time or another! And PIF acts of kindness neither need to be rewarded nor worn on your shoulder! Anyone who may have joined in to be a part of this "from the heart passionate PIF" will know whether or not joining in is really from their heart or just for personal gain in the free gifts they receive!

I think you meant well with what you intended to do and I commend you for your efforts! My suggestion for a PIF would be to send just even a dollar for the relief effort to help those who suffered great losses in Japan from the earthquake and tsunami! Have a blessed day!

~Donna~WILLOW CREEK CROSSINGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06227725799764944692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-65422955356686266.post-64945251131410346122011-03-13T13:14:05.256-05:002011-03-13T13:14:05.256-05:00Amen to all of it! That's not to cast any disparagement on the ones (like you, Brenda) who were doing this out of the goodness of their hearts.

While I love the concept of paying it forward, the concept, in and of itself, has strings attached because you're doing something good for a "prize" later on. Shouldn't the "prize" be just doing something good? Then again, is there such a thing as a selfless act, if giving makes you feel good, and you get that little squee inside for making someone happy?

I get kinda caught up in these little weird thoughts where I "split hairs" - lol!

TracyScreaming Sardinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07408212650032427439noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-65422955356686266.post-48959198502007864172011-03-13T13:01:59.195-05:002011-03-13T13:01:59.195-05:00Good morning Brenda! I read all over blogland yesterday about the pay it forward, and decided against joining in for the simple reason that if I choose to pay it forward to someone I do not expect to get praise or a prize of any sort. I have been on both the receiving side of paying it forward and the giving side. But in my mind it does have to be a private thing, and not for the "glory" of giving to someone. Wishing you all the Blessings that you deserve, you are one of the most helpful and giving person that I know!
KarenCedar Creek Primitiveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14018553052128190877noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-65422955356686266.post-91202818008538109932011-03-13T12:30:04.581-05:002011-03-13T12:30:04.581-05:00I love the pay it forward idea, but if I have to p...I love the pay it forward idea, but if I have to pay it forward to get, then I think that defeats the purpose;) I give because I want to, so think in some ways the POF is more of a chain link to sites?

I have been making eggs for fun and realized that I won't need them after the holiday so I thought it might be fun to go to the nursing home and hand them out to residents.

DebbieWoolenSailshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08621977477193550261noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-65422955356686266.post-70942299015756276812011-03-13T11:27:19.198-05:002011-03-13T11:27:19.198-05:00G'morn, Karen ~ We do these things monthly in ...G'morn, Karen ~ We do these things monthly in our lives. I loved your post this morning! I am r...Brenda,
I loved your post this morning! I am reading it after a long stressful 12 hour shift of working last night on the Cardiology Unit of one of our local hospitals! I sometimes get discouraged because I feel like I am always so giving of myself physically, mentally and spiritually and it is very draining with usually no validation that what you do makes a difference to anyone. Occasionally, you have someone that you know really appreciates what you do for them, and they tell you so, and it makes it all worth the ones that don't care, or resist what you give them. Just a few kind words that you know are really sincere can make it so much better! I really had a bad night but after reading your post, I have a feeling of peace inside, because I know I did good for everyone that I took care of last night, even if they didn't tell me. I also did get some very kind words in return and it wasn't nearly as bad as the negative things that happened that I was focusing on during my trip home this morning!
I'm not really sure what you are talking about or what happened in your blog, but you made me think about paying it forward and about appreciation
For this, I would like to send you a small gift! Would you please send me your address so that I can show you my appreciation for your words this morning.
Hugs and have a wonderful day!
Leisha
www.keeperofthefarmhouse@blogspot.comLeishahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15994537809482567328noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-65422955356686266.post-27353538584032514772011-03-13T08:49:39.734-05:002011-03-13T08:49:39.734-05:00Brenda,

I hope that you find the 2 people that y...Brenda,

I hope that you find the 2 people that you are looking for this morning. I love the idea of PIF and the feeling that you get when helping others.

We had the opportunity while traveling through Phoenix a few years back to help out a young family man whose car was broken down. He need money for a part to get back home to his wife. So we gave him the $10 he needed for the part and he was able to get home. Normally I am very cynical about handing money to strangers, but he was stuck in our hotel parking lot with his car and he had money, he showed us, he just needed the additional $10 to get the part. He wanted our address to send us back the money, which we declined to give, we only told him that in his life if he came upon a stranger who needed help to remember this moment and lend a hand.

I also was on the receiving end of a PAY IT FORWARD. Years ago, when Sean was little, I would travel back and forth between PA and MD. I put so many miles on my little car every weekend, that I finally wore out the alternator. We were stuck on the side of the road on Thanksgiving day about 1/2 way to my mom's house. A complete stranger stopped and helped my husband out. He gave up being on time for his family dinner to help us. I have never forgotten that young man and I am thankful that he stopped to help us, cause we would have been stuck there for a long time otherwise.

Anyway, selfless acts of kindness are what a true PIF are about.

And the Pay It Forward that has gone around here in blogland, is very close to the spirit of a true PAY IT FORWARD. Receive one act of kindness...perform 5 acts of kindness yourself.

Have a wonderful day and I know that the ones you are looking for are out there.

Ddee begghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03454376668751849560noreply@blogger.com
